This poetry chapbook playfully explores intergenerational touches and relations that wash through the lives of trans sex workers in Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland).

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

    DAZE JEFFERIES (she/her) is a white settler artist, writer, and educator born and raised in the Bay of Exploits on the northeast coast of rural Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland). Her multidisciplinary research-based creative practice explores queer, trans, and sex worker embodiments, counter-histories, and intergenerational relationships.

    Her work has been exhibited and performed throughout Atlantic and Eastern Canada. She is the author of the poetry chapbook Water/Wept (Anstruther Press 2023) and co-author of Autoethnography and Feminist Theory at the Water’s Edge: Unsettled Islands (Palgrave 2018). Her work has also been published in Journal of Folklore Research, Riddle Fence, PRISM International, Janus Unbound, The Dalhousie Review, Arc, and the League of Canadian Poets’ Visual Poetry Chapbook, as well as anthologized in Future Possible: An Art History of Newfoundland and Labrador, Land of Many Shores: Perspectives from a Diverse Newfoundland and Labrador, and Hustling Verse: An Anthology of Sex Workers' Poetry.

    She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2023 Emerging Artist Award from VANL-CARFAC. Her work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council, the City of St. John’s, and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
